I had the pleasure of working on Sweden’s Next Top Model Season 5 as one of the Makeup Artists.  This was Day 2 in LA and we set up shop at The Roosevelt Hotel for this shoot.  The girls had to portray famous characters on Hollywood Blvd.  Most of them didn’t even know their character.

My Bestest Friend is a Apple Fanatic and Steve Jobs’ biggest fan.  Thanks to him I drank the Kool-Aide and will forever be a Mac user.  As I listened to his speech below, I was surprisingly brought to tears.  He made a difference!

In a now-classic commencement speech at Stanford University in 2005, Steve Jobs dispensed this advice about life and death:

“No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven don’t want to die to get there.And yet death is the destination we all share.No one has ever escaped it.And that is as it should be, because Death is very likely the single best invention of Life. It is Life’s change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new. Right now the new is you, but someday not too long from now, you will gradually become the old and be cleared away. Sorry to be so dramatic, but it is quite true.

Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”

Sneak Peek from Suzy and Jason’s wedding.  I had the honor of styling hair and makeup.  Can’t wait to see all the images by the lovely Chelo Keys.  Suzy’s florist surprised her with the green Peony for her hair and it was the perfect accent to complete her look.

On April 15 I posted about a new product line I purchased that was supposed to be Super good for you as it did not contain Parabens, Sulfates, Synthetic Fragrances or Synthetic Dyes. Well, thanks to Sephora’s amazing return Policy, I returned it for a full refund as I developed strange rash like bumps on my face. I used the Cleanser and Serum for 6 weeks in hopes of it clearing up by acclimating to the all natural goodness but it was a no go. Still LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the eye cream but the cleanser and serum went bye-bye. I guess this face likes the harsh ingredients found in BLISS Fabulous Foaming Face Wash

Coincidently, these are my 2 favorite looks of the week. Emma Watson killed it in this lime Marchesa mastery of work at the MTV Movie Awards and Emmanuelle Chriqui brightens my life with the lemon yellow David Meister she wore to the CFDA Awards.

I am fighting the good fight against wrinkles and aging skin. Hydration and consistency is key. It’s all about preserving the sexy. You don’t wait to get wrinkles to then start applying “anti-wrinkle” cream. I have always been serious about healthy skin and have religiously applied an eye cream since my 25th birthday. No need to mention how long ago that was.

I was recently shopping for a new face wash and eye cream in the Bliss aisle at my neighborhood Sephora when out of nowhere, with Ninja like reflexes and super human powers, a beauty consultant lured me to the Dr. Perricone section. She started slathering this yummy smelling goodness on my hand and using buzz words like “Açaí Berry” & “Antioxidants” proclaiming how these products didn’t contain: Parabens, Sulfates, Synthetic Fragrances or Synthetic Dyes. Homegirl had me at hello! The smell alone closed the deal for me. Then she proceeded to rub in a serum that allegedly will minimize my pores and have me wake up looking refreshed with glowing skin. HELLO! “Refreshed” was the buzz word that made me reach out and place a bottle in my Sephora basket. And now the eye cream which was the main reason I walked into the store in the first place. Supposedly will depuff, hydrate and make me look perky. Spending $140 on 3 little bottles of products is not the norm for me … but she closed the deal … assuring me that they were super concentrated and would last at least 6 months. I couldn’t wait to get home to try this magical product I bought into.

First step, Super Face & Eye Cleanser. Instantly, the smell brought a smile to my face. The smell is invigorating and you can see the product breaking down your makeup. I used a white wash cloth and was truly amazed by how 1 swipe removed all my makeup. I always felt the process of removing makeup was so harsh and avoided wearing it because it was just a hassle. But this product packs a mean punch. I now wear makeup daily and look forward to cleansing at night. It’s almost therapeutic. Deep cleans and minimizes pores. No Joke!

Second step, Super Bright Eyed.  I felt a tingling sensation the first time I applied the product.  I can definitely feel how concentrated the formula is and only need a tiny amount to cover the eye area.  Keeps the skin hydrated all day but visually don’t have anything to report.

Third step, First Blush Brightening Serum.  Instantly felt my face perk up.  Call me crazy, but also thought my skin was tighter and brighter the next day.

The beauty of shopping at Sephora is that if you’re not happy, they will refund 100% within 60 days.  That is more than enough time to know if a product works well for you.  For now, I’m a happy camper and grateful for that super Ninja who used her super powers on a sucker like me

I had the good fortune of meeting Miss Fiona since my company, New Music Director interviewed her for our online show.  She is uber talented and has an incredible personality which beams with positivity.  And she too is very much into Adele these days. We were lucky enough to get invited to her show at Irving Plaza last night and now anxiously await her up coming album.

This girl is the real deal and I hope she receives the level of success she deserves in this crazy music business.  Her song “Gone and Never Coming Back” is so powerful it brings me to tears Check out her NMD interview below.
